Project

"Si Senior!: new opportunities for senior volunteers” is an initiative developed by Birmingham Voluntary Service Council in cooperation with the Spanish Association Gantalcalá with the support of the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme and its branch Grundtvig. The aim of this project is to promote common volunteering activities for senior volunteers in the main areas of Birmingham and La Rioja.

Thanks to “Si Senior!”, 12 volunteers over 50 years old from Birmingham (UK) and La Rioja (ES) will have the opportunity of participating on international volunteering actions in a different country with the support of both partner organisations.

The project will not only promote the personal development and the acquisition of new skills among senior volunteers, but also will help to improve the services and methodologies of the organisations involved in it; BVSC and Gantalcalá. Through the different mobilities between partners, senior volunteers will have the chance to be part of the local activities of both organisations and support them. Furthermore, volunteers will also take part in a wide preparation process to acquire the language and personal skills needed in order take part on this initiative.
