Workaholic Birthday Cheers!

Work has started and we are beginning to get into a routine. David has transformed from a laid back amigo to a clock watching slave driver, although the work along the River Ebro to the Office is some solace. The riverbank is crowded by tracksuited people aged over fifty attempting to exercise away the excesses of an earlier life. Why do I feel at home?

Yesterday morning, we met at the offices of the 'Federacion de Associacionnes de Vecinos de la Rioja', the closest thing to a Council for Voluntary Services in home violence in Logroño. We heard about work with local neighbourhoods, notably on community consultation. There were also lengthy discussions with a representative from 'Red Vecinal contra la violence domestica', a Domestic Violence project in the city. In the evening we went to a neighbouring village in the Basque Country, where we supported David as he led a group discussion with young people to further their participation in civil affairs.

Finally, happy birthday to Priti's daughter for yesterday. You will be pleased to know that we had a drink to you at the end of the day. John.
