Nieves

Hello, my name is Nieves Torrecilla, I am 52 years old and I am from Logroño, city where I also live. Most of my life I have worked as nursing assistant and pharmacy technician. At the moment I am unemployed. I am a down to earth person, I enjoy with the most insignificant things. I like reading, practicing sports, walking, listening to music, living family moments, sharing deep conversations and in a very especial way manner I enjoy doing and going to the theatre. I am part of the theatre group TECU (Critical Universal Theatre) of La Rioja I feel blessed for being part of these wonderful group of people that shape this group. I am really excited about this project in Birmingham, I think it will be a really and unforgettable and enriching experience in a personal level. My English level is null, however I trust the non-verbal communication with which I can also express reception, tender and happiness, values that I wish to share and that will define my life lesson in this thrilling experience.

José Luis

Hi, I’m José Luis. I was born in Cenicero, a little village of La Rioja, 58 years ago. I live in Logroño. I’m an economist and I have a degree in Law. I worked at the Caja de Ahorros de La Rioja for 38 years, a local saving bank. Now, I’m retired and I enjoy my hobbies, spending time with friends and family, dedicating it to participate in social projects, for example: I’m a member of the board of the Popular University of Logroño, unaccredited studies teaching center serving more than 6.000 people. I have a wide and varied range of interests and hobbies. I like sports and I practice cycling, paddle (similar to tennis), skiing, trekking, gym maintenance. I like reading, listening to music and travelling. I don’t like TV because I think it is a waste of time. I only see the news. I enjoy talking and interacting with people, so I think it’s important to know languages. I can speak French and a bit of English.

Miguel

Hello, first I must say to you that I´m looking forward to going to Birmingham. Although I´m more than 55 - actually I´m 71 years old - but it will be my first trip to the U.K. I love my family and friends. Therefore I suppose it could be hard to leave them these weeks but it is worthwhile to improve my low level of English. I like playing sports, listening to classic music and reading but above all I like meeting people and cultures. I´m a retired teacher but now I hope to learn more from my new friends. Greetings from Lardero-La Rioja.
