The volunteers of Gantalcalá are ready to visit the British partner of "Si Senior!"; Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC).
During 3 weeks they will cooperate on the regular activities of BVSC meanwhile their learn more about the English culture, traditions and people.
Here a self-introduction of themselves:
Estrella Sierra
Hi, I am Estrella Sierra. I am 56 years old and I live in Villamediana de Iregua, near to Logroño (La Rioja, Spain). I am married and I have five children – 4 boys and 1 girls.
I am retired but I have always been working as business manager. At the moment I am studying English in the E.O.I. (Official School of Languages) and I serve as a volunteer in Gantalcalá.
I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, walking and travelling. I also like skiing, skating and riding my bicycle. I love going to the cinema, especially, mystery and intriguing films. I also love theater. During the day I look for a time to relax and listening to music.
I like meeting new people from different countries and cultures. I am looking forward to working with English people, studying and learning from their culture.
Heliodoro Pérez
My name is Heliodoro but everybody usually calls me Helio. I am 52 years old. I studied technical and electronic engineering, but I have always worked on the management of private companies.
I do not have a concrete hobby but I love “do-it-yourself” works, going to the cinema, walking on the countryside with good friends, Formula 1 races and driving.
I am an honest person who likes the things that are properly done and to be updated about the current reality. I am blood donor and I take part in the neighbors association of my neighborhood. I am also secretary on the Orientation Club that my son Rubén belongs to. I have learnt English since a long time but I am not able to control it completely (specially the listening).
José Luis Gil de Gómez
My name is José Luis and I am 54 years old. I come from Arnedo (a village in La Rioja (Spain)) and I have a son of 28 years old and a daughter of 25.
Even if my work is travelling salesperson (I sale house shoes and slippers), I am now unemployed as most of the people in my home country.
I have modest hobbies. I love computers and music (especially classic music and piano). I also like reading and chatting with my friends. My other hobbies are those that everyone has; family, sports, cinema, etc.
I have join this adventure because I love to the volunteering world and those who works to makes the NGOs working.
